About Mr Home Budget
The book “How to Cut your Debt to Zero in 5 Simple Steps: The Keep It Simple Stupid Home Budget” and the monthly newsletter “Additional Saving Secrets Revealed...: How to Keep Even More Money in Your Pocket” are both owned by the “Keep It Simple Stupid” publishing company.
Mr Home Budget was set up in 2009 by Adam Goulding (also known as Mr Home Budget) and Renee Goulding (also known as the Thrift Chick). The company’s easy-to-understand mission statement is to “provide householders with knowledge/information and tools to keep their home budget free of debt; empowering householders everywhere to make their own financial future”.
The book is based around our experience of tracking every single dollar we spend by keeping receipts. This practice allows us to see quickly and easily where every dollar of ours is being spent and to cut expenses from our home budget. In fact, from Jan 1, 2007, to January 31, 2012, we have collected 4561 individual receipts (and counting). Our books show how you can set up this system in your life.
The company’s main focus is to work on this mission statement: we believe that helping everyday householders get out of debt will strengthen households, suburbs, states and the whole country. It’s a big statement; however, every household that stays away from debt does help us do just that! We even did a credit card funeral back in 2010 to highlight the problems with credit cards.
Based in Craigmore, South Australia, we sell our products in every state of Australia. We do this via our website, http://www.mrhomebudget.com.au/. We DO NOT sell our products in shops.
We “eat our own cooking” at Keep It Simple Stupid publishing. Both our business and our home run debt free (except for our home loan, which we are paying off ASAP). We have strict budgets for our business and our home.
Unlike most debt and debt-consolidation companies, we give you the knowledge to start getting your own budget into shape. A lot of debt companies manage your money for you. While this can be convenient, they often do not teach their customers the skills they need to do it on their own! We teach you how to do it. As the saying goes, “Give a man a fish, and he eats for a day; teach a man to fish, and he eats for a lifetime”.
We truly believe in teaching people to fish.
Our new website was launched in July of 2011. We try to cover a range of topics on home budgeting and saving money.
Some of the topics include, but are not limited to:

How to Survive the Middle Class (Coming Soon) – We have put together a twenty-minute documentary that gives you, the viewer, a guide to the top five things you should be doing right now to help you from falling out of the middle class. Prices seem to be going up and up, and people are struggling financially to keep there heads above water. However, we really wanted to show people some secrets to helping them stay afloat with their budget.
Free Tips – There are literally thousands of ways to shave your monthly budget. We try and provide some excellent ideas and tips for you to get your budget moving in the right direction. And by the way, we are constantly on the lookout and adding more tips.

These include long-time money experts (Noel Whittaker, Cath Armstrong and Fiona Lippy) as well as everyday people who were once in debt but have now crawled out and have changed their lives. These interviews are designed to give you, the reader, great advice from people who have been there.
Our Book – This is where it all started for us. “How to Cut Your Debt to Zero in 5 Simple Steps: The Keep It Simple Stupid Home Budget”. It is about Renee’s and my story of being completely out of control with money and of getting back on the right track. It also shows your how to do this in your life.
