Beef and Beer Stew
Serves: 4
Preparation time: 20 minutes
Cooking time: 2 hours and 30 minutes
Ingredients
60g butter
1kg casserole steak, cut into long strips
pinch of salt and pepper, to taste
2 onions, sliced
1 tspn ground nutmeg
1 tblspn plain flour
100ml beef stock
5 carrots, sliced
600ml beer
Method
1.In a large saucepan melt the butter and add meat. Season with salt and pepper. Remove from heat and set aside in a bowl.
2.Add onions to pan, cook over medium heat until brown; add nutmeg and flour.
3.Cook for 1 more minute stirring constantly. Add the stock, bring to the boil.
4.Add the carrots, meat, and beer.
5.Cover and simmer for about 2 hours and 15 minutes until the meat is very tender, stirring occasionally.
