Creamy Potato Bake

Ingredients
1.5 kg potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
2 onions, halved and thinly sliced
1 tblspn fresh thyme leaves
3 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
Salt to taste
1 cup milk
300ml pouring cream
1 cup grated cheddar cheese
Method
1.Preheat oven to 180C or 160C for fan forced. Grease a 7 cup ovenproof dish.
2.Layer 1/3 potatoes over base, then half onion, thyme and garlic. Season with salt. 3.Combine milk and cream. Pour a 1/3 over potatoes.
4.Repeat layers finishing with potato.
5.Pour over the remaining milk and cream.
6.Cover and bake for 75 minutes.
7.Remove the cover and sprinkle with the cheese.
8.Cook uncovered for about 15 minutes until cheese has melted and is golden brown.
