Join with us to tell the big banks that it's time they stopped ripping off hard-working Australians. big four

We're sick and tired of watching the big four banks rip off hard-working Australians, and we're not going to stand for it any longer.

Despite posting record profits of $24 billion this year, sky-rocketing CEO salaries and profit margins returning to pre-GFC levels, the big four banks are still crying poor.

They continue to show an almost aggressive attitude towards the Australian public as they drag their feet when it comes to passing on interest rate cuts from the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA), and are now even threatening to completely ignore the RBA and set their own agendas.

But what frustrates us most of all, is that the big four banks continue to draw us into this debate every time the RBA cuts interest rates in their effort to stall passing on interest rate cuts to cash-strapped mortgagees.

For every day the banks neglect to pass on an interest rate cut, they profit $7.4 million. And it goes without saying that when the RBA suggests interest rate rises, the banks are more than happy to immediately pass them on to us with no questions asked.

Now there’s even the daring suggestion banks may put up interest rates even though the RBA have kept them on hold this month. They seem to run by their own rules.

That's why we're asking you to get behind our campaign to keep the big banks honest.

But, don't worry, we're here to do all the work for you. And it won't cost you a cent.

Simply fill out our online form and we'll identify your local MP and post them a hard copy letter (as below) via Australia Post snail mail on your behalf requesting they keep the pressure on the big banks to act as responsible corporate citizens.

Our team of volunteers will even hand write your personal message (up to 500 characters) and add it to the letter for an extra touch of authenticity.

With much greater impact than an anonymous petition or an impersonal email and all associated costs coming out of our pocket, this is a free, convenient and effective way to get your voice heard.

It's time to tell the big banks that they can't rip us off any longer!

(This is the letter which will be sent in your name, the personal message is optional)

RE: PLEASE KEEP THE BIG BANKS HONEST

Dear Mr Morrison

I write to you with serious concerns about the irresponsible behaviour and aggressive attitudes displayed recently to the Australian people by our big four banks, namely the ANZ, Commonwealth, NAB and Westpac banks.

As a mortgagee in Australia's $1.196 trillion home loan market, I would like to express my outrage at the flagrant disregard the banks have shown, and continue to show, for hard-working Australian families.

Despite posting record profits of a combined $24 billion this year, sky-rocketing CEO salaries and profit margins returning to pre-GFC levels, the big banks continue to drag their feet in passing on interest rate cuts to cash-strapped householders.

Following this month's decision by the RBA of no rate movement, there is speculation that the banks will increase the rates, going totally against the RBA's decision.

For every day the banks neglect to pass on interest rate cuts as set out by the Reserve Bank of Australia, they profit $7.4 million.

That money belongs to the Australian people and should be used to stimulate the Australian economy, and not to line the pockets of the big banks already reaping record profits off the backs of hard-working mortgagees.

I urge you to keep the pressure on the big banks to act as responsible corporate citizens by respecting the Reserve Bank of Australia's monetary policy and passing rate cuts on to the Australian people promptly and in full. And more importantly not getting into the habit of increasing rates at their own desire

Moreover, I'd like to add a personal message to the above concerns:

Thank you for your time.

Yours sincerely,

Shane Conroy.

PS: This is an important matter, which is well overdue in addressing. If something is not done now the big banks will continue to make their own rules, while Australian households are paying the price.
