AVERAGE petrol prices have dropped more than half a cent during the past week, figures from the Australian Institute of Petroleum show.
Victorians got the best of the drop with pump prices there falling 1.4 cents, but South Australians had to wear a 2.4 cent rise.
In other states and territories a drop was recorded.
The national average cost of a litre of unleaded now sits at $1.29, down 0.7 cents.
Prices have been relatively steady for almost a month with this drop the first movement in a fortnight.
The plateauing prices are mirroring the calm of the world oil markets.
In Asian trading today benchmark crude for July delivery was down six cents at $US73.90 ($87.40) a barrel at midday in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
