Good work, Australia. We are getting the message that credit cards are costing our home budgets more than we thought. Debit cards are the new black, as we are using them 30 percent more than this time last year.
Even the Reserve Bank has taken notice of our new obsession. They have reported a 17 percent drop in credit card use in the last five years. This has been explained by people getting sick and tired of the high fees and charges on their credit cards. There are more than 275 million card transactions every month throughout Australia, of which 116 million are attributed to credit cards.
